A UK woman from Portmead, Swansea, Wales, was jilted by her partner of four years, Kallum Norton.
Her fiancé and husband-to-be abandoned 27-year-old Kayley Stead on the morning of her wedding ceremony.
According to Daily Mail, Kayley had been in a relationship with 24-year-old Kallum Norton for more than four years and was very excited to marry him.
However, on the day of her nuptials, when she was told he would not show up, Stead decided to go ahead with the celebrations.
“Despite the heartbreak, Kayley decided to go ahead with the big day, surrounded by her loved ones around her, on September 15 at Oxwich Bay Hotel in Gower, Swansea, Wales,” the outlet reported.
“Kayley went ahead with her wedding entrance, meal, speeches, dances, and even posed for professional photos without her groom.”
“Brave Kayley punched off the top tier of her wedding cake and spent her first dance with the groomsmen, her brothers, and dad Brian, 71. She even entered the party singing along to Lizzo’s ‘Good as Hell’ with her bridal party.”
Speaking to The Sun, Insurance Clerk Kayley said that although it was not an easy decision, she did not want to waste the £12000 that she had spent on the wedding.
“The day turned into a day I will always be proud of. I can truly look back on it and smile because it will always remind me that I don’t need someone else’s love to be happy.”
“After hearing that Kallum was not turning up, I wiped away my tears, reapplied my make-up, and told everyone: ‘I’m going to do it.’
“I’d spent all this money; I’d been looking forward to the food, a dance with my dad, spending time with my family, so why not? I didn’t want to remember the day as complete sadness,” she added.
According to The Sun, Kayley’s elder sister Katie called the groomsmen and asked them to carry on with the celebrations regardless of Norton’s absence.
“The two parties headed into the ceremony room at Oxwich Bay Hotel, Gower, Glamorgan, together and told the guests what had happened. With their support, Kayley carried on with the day she had planned and made changes throughout to turn a devastating event into a beautiful one.”
At the event, the photo booth that displayed the sign “Mr and Mrs” was quickly replaced with “Kayley’s Shindig,” and the 27-year-old brave girl clicked a lot of pictures with her friends and family and didn’t let her sadness get in the way.
“Rather than sharing her first dance with the groom, Kayley instead danced with her dad, Brian, 71, and brothers Craig, 47, Matthew, 46, Gary, 46, and another Craig, 43. She even punched the wedding cake as it reminded her of Kallum,” The Sun wrote.
“The night before the September 15 wedding, I stayed in an AirBnB, celebrating with my bridesmaids, while Kallum and his groomsmen stayed in a caravan near the venue,” Said Kayley.
“But he left the caravan that evening and never returned,” She added. “The bridal party hid my phone, so they could decide what was the best way to tell me and I wouldn’t find out from someone else. They wanted to make sure he was really gone before panicking me.”
According to Kayley, she found her phone and saw a missed call from her mom. When she called back, she heard her mom crying and was informed that Norton was gone.
“At that point, I was still quite hopeful, as, throughout our relationship, he had sometimes gone for a walk or a drive to clear his head when he was nervous.”
“For a couple of hours, I was saying he was going to be there, and I was reassuring the girls. I honestly believed he was going to be there. But later, his dad called and informed us that he would not come.”
