Newlyweds enjoyed ‘just us’ wedding ceremony in Windermere | The Westmorland Gazette

The couple, who are both 29, attended the same school and got to know each other as pupils.

The smitten pair got engaged on the beach at Aldingham, where they had previously enjoyed their first date.

“It was a complete surprise but utterly perfect,” said Jamie-Leigh,

“A simple walk which ended with Tom down on one knee.”

The couple got married at the Cragwood Country House Hotel on June 30 2022 with just the two of them.

The Covid pandemic did not affect the pair’s plans in any way as they always planned on having an intimate ceremony.

Jamie-Leigh and Tom decided to take the untraditional route and get ready for their big day together in Windermere.

“We did everything together, breaking what some may say was tradition,” said Jamie-Leigh.

“But it was our day and what we wanted.

“We started the day with breakfast in the room and then began getting ready.

“Whilst getting ready in front of the window which overlooked Lake Windermere, we had a fly by over of jets.

“Emma arrived to drop off our flowers which were breathtaking and then she went to decorate the gazebo outside.

“We both then got changed into our dress and suit; it all started to become real at this point and we couldn’t believe the day was actually here!

“Adam then arrived and began to take photos in the room before heading down to the gazebo (where we were getting married).

“We walked down the aisle together, hand in hand, before meeting the registrars and getting married.

“After the ceremony we explored the grounds of Cragwood and had some time to ourselves taking it all in.

“We had afternoon tea, sat on the lawn, on a picnic blanket, again overlooking the lake and sipping Prosecco.

“Our day was ‘just us’ in every possible way. Nothing fancy, just love was the motto of our day!”

The newlyweds did not embark on a honeymoon but said they are ‘always looking ahead’ for their next adventure some time in the future.
