My name is Jane Sturgeon, a funeral celebrant covering The Wirral, Cheshire West and Chester and Flintshire. As a funeral celebrant, I am qualified to officiate and conduct a funeral ceremony.
Fully trained by The UK Society of Celebrants, I feel privileged to help and support you during, what can be, your darkest hours.
A computer analyst and programmer by background, I moved into emotional support therapy after turning fifty years of age and am now a funeral celebrant.
We all have a variety of skill sets and many aspects are called upon as we encounter challenging life situations. For me, kindness has always been key and the strong belief that if we can treat others as we wish to be treated, then life has a loving balance. I would rather be kind, than right.
The death of a loved one is a deeply emotional time, and a funeral offers the opportunity to celebrate the life of your loved one and to say goodbye. A civil ceremony is a funeral created with care and respect, from the wishes, values and beliefs of the families involved. Working closely with you to plan the funeral, it is my privilege to support and guide you in creating a ceremony that celebrates and honours your loved one’s life.
Listening is love in action and with a practical attitude, I can make things happen for you.
Words seem so feeble in moments like these.
Life is so precious,
and death such a thief.
The depths of your pain
I cannot comprehend,
but I’ll stand alongside you
in the darkness, my friend.
Love is a bond
that death cannot part.
Gone from your arms,
but still held in your heart.

As a fully qualified funeral celebrant, I am your voice when you cannot find the words. Helping you to create a unique semi-religious or non-religious funeral ceremony for your loved one and officiate at the cremation or the burial to ensure your wishes are followed. Giving thanks for a life lived, whether short or long and bringing comfort to you when you are at your lowest ebb.
Memorials and remembrance services can also be created with loving care and respect, following your wishes and celebrating life.
Every single funeral or memorial will be written from scratch, creating a unique ceremony that is meaningful, dignified, relaxed and stress-free. This is your space to ask for what you wish, with no right or wrong choices. A space for you of non-judgment.
We can meet in your home or another venue of your choice, and I will ensure that the ceremony for your loved one honours them and your family. Helping you to select music, readings, poetry, and anything else you wish to include.
I can write the eulogy for you, creating a unique ceremony that will respect their wishes and yours. Since a celebrant-led funeral isn’t tied to any specific requirements, religion, or structure, you can use the ceremony as a chance to celebrate your loved one’s beliefs and wishes. Whether you want the funeral ceremony to be entirely void of any religion, or you want to bring in a spiritual or faith-based message, I will create a ceremony that reflects your wishes.
The charge is £225 for a ceremony, and this includes our meetings, which may be home visits or at a location of your choice, and a personalised copy of your loved one’s ceremony.
I am fully insured for all events.
Here for you, please get in touch if I can help.
