Wedding celebrant in the North East
My name is Meg Stanier, I am a family and wedding celebrant in the North East. I grew up in Barnard Castle and now live in Darlington with my husband Tom. After finishing my degree in English Language and Linguistics in 2016, I have worked in a few different industries, including my current role as a Speech Therapy Assistant for the NHS.
I first discovered the world of family celebrancy in 2020 when my best friends asked if I would perform their wedding ceremony because of the limited guests allowed at their wedding. Of course, I said yes! What an honour it is to be trusted with something so important to two people, on one of the biggest days of their lives.
After meeting with them to discuss the ceremony and what they wished to include, I wrote their draft script, plus a personalised poem for one of their ceremony readings. During this time, I realised I loved the process of writing a ceremony and decided to do a bit more research into sector. This is when I came across UKSOC and their courses and realised I could potentially do this as a career. My course was completed in December 2020, my services include weddings, commitment, vow renewals and naming ceremonies.
I am a people person – I enjoy talking to people from all different walks of life and having a good natter! So, I am really looking forward to meeting all my future clients and getting to know you all on a personal level so that I can write ceremonies with your personalities and interests in mind, all you need to do is be yourselves and I’ll do the rest! I pride myself, in any job, to be professional and to stick to the 5 P’s my dad taught me ‘Perfect preparation prevents poor performance’.
As your celebrant I will not only write your ceremony but I will work together with your venue and your loved ones to ensure you have a special experience on your big day to make sure everything goes smoothly, no page will be left unturned.
The great thing about planning your event these days is that there is no pressure to stick to a ‘norm’ anymore, you can completely make your day your own. From the venue, the theme and the ambience of your day- the possibilities really are endless- so why not try to make your dream day come true?
In addition to this, I have added a ‘your journey’ poetry service which can be used as part of your ceremony. This bespoke poem will reveal to your guests your journey as a couple/family in a quirky way, no one else will have a poem like it because no story is the same.
Did your story start, with just a simple ‘hello’?
And from that moment on, your love started to grow?
Let me pick your brains and discover how you met,
So I can write a poem that your guests will not forget,
Perhaps you share a hobby or a favourite TV show,
It’s little things like that I would really like to know,
You can mention favourite places or a loving family pet,
Anything can be included, I promise you no regret.
I love thinking outside the box, so whatever you want from your special day, I will do my absolute best to make this happen for you. The goal for my business is to make your ceremony effortless and tailored to you- something you will always remember. I have told you my story, so why not contact me and tell me yours! I will have my pen, in hand, ready to write.
