Maharashtra: Bride files FIR against Groom & Family for Cancelling Wedding citing Unimpressive Pre-wedding Ceremony | Ajanta News

In a groom-turning-accused case, a bride’s family in Maharashtra’s Palghar area made the groom and his parents along with his uncle accused under section 420, 417 and 500 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) after they called-off the wedding after the arrangements by the bride side was allegedly unimpressive, a TOI report reported on Friday, Mar 5. The groom and his 3 family members were booked by the police, however no arrests were made by the police, the report claimed.

The groom hailing from Maharashtra’s Vasai met the bride at her home in Wada taluka of Palghar district where the pre-engagement ceremony was organised. Around 30-40 guests including people from Bride’s village attended the ceremony. The traditional ‘Kumkum’ exchange took place and gifts were offered to the groom’s family, the report claimed.

Upon conclusion of the ceremony, the groom’s family did not block any date for engagement but promised to return with a date for engagement. However, on several attempts by the bride’s family, the groom’s family did not respond. It was later discovered that the groom’s family wasn’t pleased by the arrangements and their treatment of them was not satisfactory.

The bride’s father lodged a complaint about the same to Wada police who booked the groom and 3 of his family members under the relevant sections of IPC. However, the police haven’t apprehended anyone yet.
