Choosing the music for your Wedding Ceremony

When choosing the music for your wedding ceremony, you have two choices really, a recording or a live musician.

An MP3/Spotify or CD is cheap and if you can find the right track then you are sorted, assuming the venue/church has the means to play it for you. If not, then you will have to provide the technology needed. You will also need a willing volunteer to press the buttons at the right time.

However, if you have a live musician to provide the music, it not only makes the moment even more special for you and your guests, but all the responsibilities are taken off of your job list, allowing you to focus on other things.

A live musician can start the song at any point within the lyrics so that you can walk down the aisle to those exact special words. They can change the song from heavy metal to a ballad or the other way around if you prefer.

They will have a large amount of experience of what works and what doesn’t. They can guide you on how many tunes are needed and make suggestions if you are struggling.

They will know exactly when to start playing so that your entrance/exit is as spectacular as you want it to be, and you are not left standing at the church door waiting for the music to start or keep the registrar waiting once the signing of the register is complete.

They will also entertain your guests before the big event, and during other parts of the celebrations if that is what you would like.

Here are some tips for choosing the music for your special day.

1. You will need a song to go down the aisle to. Normally a slow tune (but not compulsory).

This is usually chosen by the person walking down the aisle.

2. Two songs for the signing of the register. They can be special tunes, maybe the favourite song of one of the parents? or you might leave the choice to the musician.

3. A song to walk back up the aisle. Normally a lively tune as the official part of the day is over. Maybe chosen by the other partner who didn’t choose the first song.

I hope these tips are useful in the planning of your big day, and if I can help in anyway then please get in touch.

Best Wishes
