Alice Wright | Wedding Celebrant

Family Celebrant based in Brighton & Hove, Sussex

Hello, I’m Alice, a Family Celebrant based on the coast in the exciting and diverse twin cities of Brighton & Hove, Sussex. Living so close to the sea has inspired me to create Siren Ceremonies, named for the mythical creatures that lure travellers into the waves with their song…

I was born on the beach (really) and spent my young days by the shore, despite years spent at university and working in London, I too was lured back to the coast as soon as I started my own family and am now lucky enough to swim in the surf most days or at least walk my three dogs along the sea front.

My background is in public relations for major film studios, working creatively with clients, talent and media, which means I am used to public speaking, presenting and coming up with ideas. I have also worked for the past decade as a freelance writer for national press and consumer brands and love putting inspiring, creative or engaging copy together.

At university I studied Pre-Raphaelite art and literature and adore any romantic, mythical and Gothic work, hopefully my knowledge of stunning, obscure or relevant poetry will help inspire some ceremony content.

My dogs are my loves and I believe pets can be part of any family celebration, one of my own dogs appeared at my wedding ceremony as a painted canvas, but I’d love the chance to work with real animals as part of a ceremony.

I’m married myself with a young son and love wine, food, books, music, dancing and all the good things… and of course, getting in the sea as much as possible.

Siren Ceremonies is for couples, families or individuals who want to create a memorable ceremony that is personal to them. Regardless of beliefs or lifestyle I will work with you create an authentic and alternative wedding day, naming day or vow renewal that reflects who you are and tells your story.

I have a particular interest in alternative ceremonies in Sussex, the ones that aren’t standard for all. I’d love to work with couples and families who want something different, maybe inspired by an alternative lifestyle, pagan beliefs or even just a favourite book. All ideas, spirituality and themes can be incorporated into your own Siren Ceremony, so you can really be yourselves.

As a trained family celebrant I am able to write and conduct wedding ceremonies, vow renewals and naming days, but any personal or family milestone can be marked with a bespoke ceremony. Why not celebrate your divorce, retirement or coming of age? Or welcome any new addition to your family or recognise a new name or identity? Our new and modern family structures don’t always fit into the traditional ceremonies we are used to, so let’s create our own. Your ceremony can be as traditional, unusual, informal or formal as you like.

I can help to create unity ceremonies, memory boxes and wild weddings and conduct handfastings jumping the broom or tree plantings, and it goes without saying that I’m thrilled to work with any kind of couple, group or family.

I’m a family and wedding celebrant based in Brighton & Hove and available across the beautiful county of Sussex, which lends itself to ceremonies on the breathtaking Downs, in one of the stunning local venues or barefoot on the beach…
